MSU Student job opening: JCMU Peer Adviser

The Japan Center for Michigan Universities (JCMU) is looking to hire one Peer Adviser that is available to work starting immediately. Below are details of the position:

Job title: Peer Adviser
Location: MSU International Center 110
Compensation: $9.25/hour
Hours/week: 10 – 15

Primary tasks:

  • Respond to potential student inquiries by phone, email, and in-person
  • Assist with program promotion on MSU campus and at off-campus fairs/events
  • Process application materials for upcoming programs
  • Work with the JCMU Program Assistant to create content for:
    • Social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
    • JCMU Official Blog
    • Monthly e-newsletter
  • Assist with special projects as able based on your personal skill sets and knowledge

Minimum qualifications:

  • Current Michigan State University student
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • You must be able to work during summer 2018

Ideal additional qualifications:

  • JCMU alum
  • Japanese language skills
  • Working knowledge of Adobe design suite (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (particularly Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter)
  • Experience working on a website and/or blog
  • Currently of freshman, sophomore, or junior standing
