Hikone Carrom

Carrom, a board game similar to billiards and table shuffleboard, was first introduced to Japan in the early 20th century. Though it fell out of popularity soon after throughout most of the country, it remains a beloved activity in Hikone. Hikone carrom boards can be found in various locations throughout the city, including JCMU!

To introduce you to this culturally unique game specific to Hikone, attendees will be given the chance to observe a game of Hikone carrom. Learn more about the game’s rules, including how they differ from other iterations of carrom around the world.
