“Not Necessarily The Population Problem Panacea: Proper Planning for International Student and Program Expansion in Japan”

Presenter: Benjamin J. McCracken

Abstract:

To counter the shrinking number of university students in Japan and to meet the demands of Japanese businesses, Japanese universities have opened their doors to more and more students from abroad. This presentation looks into the question of whether Japanese universities are truly prepared for the numerous foreign students who are appearing on campus. The discussion will specifically focus on students coming from the United States as an example of how universities may need to prepare to meet unique student issues.
