Spring Field Trip to Inuyama Castle and Meijimura

For the JCMU spring semester field trip on February 8th JCMU students and staff took a trip to Inuyama Castle and Meijimura which are located in nearby Inuyama city in Aichi prefecture.

Inuyama castle was originally built in 1440 ( Renaissance period in Europe, Muromachi period in Japan.) , and it is one of the four national treasure castles. ( Hikone castle is one of the four, too.) After climbing many very steep stairwells, we arrived in the top of the castle tower, and enjoyed the sight from there. After that, we visited Meijimura. Meijimura is the open-air  museum for architectures that were built during the Meiji, Taisho, and early Showa periods. We saw many old schools, government offices, churches, prisons, hotel,  etc, and felt like we were taking a trip back to 100 years ago.
